The Fool symbolism
A young traveller steps toward the edge of a cliff with a white rose in one hand and a small bundle on a staff over his shoulder. A white dog jumps at his heels, the sun blazes behind him and snow-capped mountains sit far in the distance. The rose stands for pure intention, the bundle for everything he needs and nothing more, and the cliff for the unknown he is about to meet. The Fool carries the number zero: he stands outside the sequence of the other trumps, which is why many readers see the whole Major Arcana as the Fool's journey.
