Editorial Standards and Ethics
These standards apply to everything The Mystica publishes: tarot card meanings, dream interpretations, guides and the text of our reading tools.
1. Accuracy about the tradition
- Card meanings follow the Rider-Waite-Smith tradition and A. E. Waite's Pictorial Key to the Tarot, interpreted in line with widely accepted modern practice.
- Astrological, elemental and Hebrew-letter correspondences follow the Golden Dawn system. Where traditions disagree (for example, court-card elements), we say so.
- Historical claims are kept to what is documented. Tarot began as a card game in 15th-century Italy; its use for divination became widespread in the 18th and 19th centuries. We do not repeat myths of ancient Egyptian origins as fact.
2. Honesty about what divination can do
- We present tarot and dream interpretation as tools for reflection and self-understanding, not as proven prediction.
- We do not claim that readings are guaranteed, scientifically validated or able to reveal another person's private thoughts.
- Illustrative example readings are clearly labelled as written by our editors, not real clients.
3. Sensitive topics
We never use tarot or dreams to predict death, illness, pregnancy, accidents or the outcome of medical tests, legal cases or exams. On health, legal, financial and mental-health questions we reflect on the emotional side and point to qualified professionals. 4. Use of AI
We use AI to assist with drafting some content and to generate the text of our interactive readings. AI never decides which cards you get: cards are drawn at random by code. All published guides are reviewed by a person against these standards. We disclose AI use on the tools where it is used.
5. Independence from advertising and affiliates
We earn money from advertising and affiliate links to live psychic services. Affiliate links are labelled and marked as sponsored. Commercial relationships never change card meanings, dream interpretations or our advice. We do not accept payment for positive reviews.
6. Updates and corrections
Every guide shows the date it was last updated. When readers report an error, we check it against our sources and correct it if needed. Substantial corrections are noted on the page. Contact: contact@themystica.com.
7. Respect
We write about religious, spiritual and esoteric traditions with respect, including those we do not practise. We do not mock believers or sceptics, and we do not use fear to sell.
