Sikh Prayer

In Sikhism, prayer is rooted in the nam simaran, the calling to mind of God, achieved through meditation. Formal and informal both begin and end with ardas, petition. Praise is expressed through kirtan, devotional singing. From all of this, petition flows, as encouraged by Guru Nanak, “Whoever cries and begs at the door of God will be heard and blessed.” A.G.H.
