Palaemon

Palaemon, Greco-Roman god in greco roman mythology.

He was a minor sea god, originally Melikertes, son of Ino (Leukothea).

He was deified by the gods when his mother, cradling her son in her arms, threw herself from a cliff into the sea.

The reason being, according to legends, she became insane or was escaping the wrath of Athanas, King of Thebes. A.G.H.
