Narayana is a Hindu creator god, mentioned in epic and Puranic texts. He is semi-synonymous with Vishnu, but specifically describing the embodiment of the "abode of man." The deity is said to have sucked his toe while sailing the primordial ocean on a banana leaf, until his own inspiration created the world. He is often depicted as supported by the bird god Garuda.
