Liber Pater

Liber Pater was a fertility-god of the fields. He assumed the characteristics of Dionysus whose festivals, held mainly in the countryside, were of a merry nature, and not formal. His festival, the Liberalia, became the favorite day for Roman boys to don the toga virils. A.G.H.
