Flora is the Roman goddess of flowers. She was the consort of Zephyrus. Young girls chiefly worshipped her with fruits and flowers. Her festivals, possessing sexual overtones as well as being connected with the dead, were celebrated in late April and early May, known as Floralia. A.G.H.
