Sorcerer, female alternate sorceress, is a person who summons supernatural powers through spells or evocations. The term is applied sparingly and specifically as it usually denotes one who practices of black magic. Usually a sorcerer seeks to use sorcery for personal gain or for the personal gain of another person who pays for his services; either way, most magicians regard a sorcerer a practitioner of low magic.
