Shakta is a male worshipper of the Tantric image of the Great Goddess, Shakti; a man versed in the techniques of Tantric yoga and identified with the Goddess herself through sexual intercourse with her earthly representative. The term shaktra also has different versions as sadhaka or sadha, possibly coming from "Sadducees" mentioned in the Bible. A.G.H.
