Numinous

Numinous is a tern referring to a feeling of the mysterious, all-inspiring, holy or sacred, which is present without reason. The idea is that "Man is born with this perception and is enabled by it to become part of the Divine." The German theologian and philosopher Rudolph Otto the concept was developed in the 1920s, which is explained in his famous book Idea of the Holy, translated in 1958. A.G.H.
