Evolution, The Theory of


An evolutionary theory in the occult sciences, prominent in Hinduism and Theosophy, that perceives the process of evolution in a more complex sense than it is presented in contemporary biology. The process is seen as cyclic, linear and incomprehensible. Man passes through cycles of birth-death-reincarnation until he reaches a state of perfection, or, in Hinduism man finally evolves into the state of Nirvana. A.G.H.
