Max Hendel was the pseudonym of Max Grashof, a theosophical writer (see Theosophy), influenced by Rudolf Steiner. Hendel claimed to be an authentic Rosicrucian and founded the Rosicrucian Fellowship of California, which was unrelated to the AMORC organization situated in San Jose, California, in the United States.
Hendel’s major work was The Rosicrucian Cosmosconception. After Hendel died in 1916, his wife Augusta continued the Rosicrucian Fellowship, and was a strong advocate of her husband’s beliefs until her death in 1938. A.G.H.
