Gawa, or Gauna, is the leader of the spirits of the dead who dwell in the sky and simultaneously are the wicked spirits of the wind, hurricane, storm, lightening, and thunder. Gawa is the supreme god of the Damara tribes, consequently is thought of as a wicked deiety expressing the ethnic contrast between the Bushmen and Damaras. A.G.H.
