In the World
These studies project that by the end of the century, Islam will be the largest religion in the world.
Between 2015 and 2060, there will be a world population increase of 32%, or 9.6 billion people. During that period, is expected an increase of Muslims by 70 percent, the religious group with the youngest population and highest fertility.
The number of Christians in the world is projected to increase by 34%, slightly faster than the world population in general, although much slower than Muslims.
As a result, according to projections from the Pew Research Center, by 2060, the Muslim count (3,000 million, or 31% of the population) will be close to the Christian count (3,100 million, or 32 percent). With the exception of Muslims and those who believe in Christ, all major world religions project a smaller percentage of the world’s population in 2060.
In India Islam is the fastest growing religion. The estimated growth of the number of Muslims in India is bigger than the total country population. It is estimated to grow from 149% to 19,4%.
In Europe Islam the growth projection is between 11% and 14%.
In USA Islam is also the fastest growing religion. Christianity is expected to vary from 78% in 2010 to 66% in 2050.
