Camunda, a Hindu goddess mentioned in Vedic and Puranic texts, is considered to be a form of Durga. Her name is a contraction of the names of the demonic beings, Camda and Munda, who she killed. She is recognized as being among the saptamatara and astamatara as well as sometimes being regarded as a navashakti. She stands variously on a lion, owl, or a corpse. She possesses a large and varied assortment of attributes including a third eye.

Camunda, a Buddhist goddess, stands upon a corpse. Her color is red, and her attributes include the cup and knife. A.G.H.
