Bhima (terrible) is a Hindu warrior-god mentioned in Vedic and Puranic texts; also a prince of the mythological Pandu family and one of the heroes in the Mahabharata epic. Bhima is usually depicted as wielding a sword or a club. He is the son of Vasyu, god of the winds. He is seen as a god of enormous strength and cruelty which separates him from the heroic figure Arjurna, his brother, with whom he is linked in the epic. His attribute is a club. A.G.H.
