Leviathan

The Hebrew title of the Great Serpent of Nehushtan, "Wriggly One," which was established by Moses (2 Kings 18:4). The priestly name Levi meant a son of Leviathan, who was once another form of Yahweh even though centuries later he was converted into a demon. The bishop’s miter evolved from the headdress of the Levite priests. A.G.H.
